WhyChess Interviews Anand

Here's a longish interview with world champion Viswanathan Anand, covering his recent bad form, his pending world championship match with Boris Gelfand, his thoughts on Vladimir Kramnik, Magnus Carlsen and Levon Aronian, and more. Definitely worth a read.

That was a great interview. I loved the stuff about Kramnik and Anand's match with Kramnik, as well as how he tied that to Kramnik's match with Kasparov.
I also found the comparison between the Anand-Kasparov and the Kramnik-Kasparov matches very interesting - especially regarding how, in contrast to Anand's somewhat naive opening choice in the 10th game of his match, Kramnik switched opening (from the Berlin to the Arkhangelsk) following his 2nd win, in order to "dodge" Kasparov's possible prep, and immediate revenge, in the 2000 match (there it happened in game 11, btw). And I’m glad to see that Anand himself, at least, doesn’t encourage the endlessly recycled (and blown out of all conceivable proportion) “hiding preparation” excuse for his lack of tournament success...
